Moms and Budgeting Just Got Easier with 22Seven

Last night, I was chatting to one of my closest friends (a BFF for sure!) about my plans for Momtrepreneur in 2015.

She is a part time photographer and SAHM and she said to me, she would love it if I could write about something for Moms and ways of budgeting and best ways to budget and save! I looked at her and said – “You won’t believe it, but I’m doing just that this week! So, here’s my introduction to MOMS, BUDGETING and GETTING ON TOP OF YOUR EXPENSES!”

Budgeting Made Easy

So, we’re fully into what is often referred to as “Silly Season”.

Many of us are about to go on holiday or are on holiday already and some of us are preparing for the upcoming festive Xmas activities next week. It’s the time of year where we find ourselves spending more money than usual (or, maybe that’s just me!?… doubt it!).

The thought of budgeting is something many of us most likely push to the back of our minds – it’s not really something we want to think about. The fact, though, is that we HAVE to think about these things and work towards starting 2015 on a POSITIVE FINANCIAL NOTE opposed to a bad one!

Introducing 22Seven

22Seven is a company owned by Old Mutual. I recently met with their team and got to really understand their philosophy and how they want to help people with budgeting and KNOWING and UNDERSTANDING their money. Not only are their ideas innovative and exciting, but they are passionate about what they do and what they are out to achieve.

What is 22Seven?

In a nutshell, it’s an application that can be viewed and managed on your phone, iPad or internet browser that brings ALL YOUR BANKING information into ONE Dashboard or view that allows you to start seeing how much money you are spending per month on school, clothing, food, bank fees (big one!).

This is my scenario:

  • 3 x Standard Bank Accounts (one personal, husbands and business account)
  • 2 x FNB Accounts (hubby and business account)
  • 1 x Nedbank Account (business account)
  • Credit Card Accounts
  • Home Loan Account

With 22Seven, I can see all bank accounts in ONE view without having to log into each bank separately. This already is a SERIOUS TIME SAVER which all of us Moms and business owners need.

Instantly, I know where I am spending more, where I need to move money to, how much money I REALLY have (their super clever peeps at their company take into account your regular spends and the system then “enlightens” you on how much money you REALLY have despite what the bank balance is saying) and where my biggest spending is, so I can actually begin to analyse my information and start saving money or identifying how I can reduce my spend.

And, before you say or think anything, YES – IT’S SUPER SECURE!

It’s SUPER easy to use and in the coming weeks, I will be sharing what I’ve identified (personally) using 22Seven and how I use it for my business (despite it being built specifically for individuals).

Great to know about this! Would love it if it could also integrate foreign accounts (an added layer of complexity!).

Hi Catarina,

We’d love to include foreign accounts, and hope to do so in future. For the moment, it might be useful to add manual accounts (you can find this at the bottom of the accounts list). This would provide a basic summary of accounts that aren’t available for automatic links.
