With the laid-back festive season something of the past, the scramble to get ready for the 2015 school year can feel daunting. But, not only has the countryās largest supermarket group, Shoprite Checkers, committed itself to being the ultimate destination when it comes to Back to School preparation, Shoprite also offers a chance for hundreds of learners to win their school fees with āClass of 2015ā.
Shoprite believes that education is the foundation for further development and entrepreneurship; which allows our youth to unlock their immense potential. In line with this vision, Shoprite sponsors school fees for hundreds of learners across South Africa with their annual āClass of 2015ā competition. All entrants have to do is write a short essay or draw a picture of what they want to be when they grow up and they stand a chance to win their school fees for a year. Each Shoprite store in the country will choose a winner.
As part of its commitment to passing the lowest prices and best value directly to consumers, Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets provide a large range of back to school items at competitive prices. Except for the teacherās list, some of the top stationery items that parents should look out for are A4 College exercise books and hardcover counter books, Pritt, Staedtler HB pencils and retractable wax crayons, Jiffy heavy duty plastic rolls, A4 exam pads and 1plus A4 photocopy paper.
An extensive range of school shoes and school bags are also available from all Shoprite and Checkers stores and provide a wide range of great value school bags and shoes to customers, with the best value pair of shoes being sold at under R60. This year Shoprite and Checkers also have a wide range of character branded school and pencil bags that include Barbie, Avengers, Spiderman and Hello Kitty. Although school uniforms donāt form part of the groupās standard merchandise it is available at selected stores.
Shoprite and Checkers stores have also ordered up on bread, spreads, healthy snacks and lunchbox fillers with promotional prices across the range to help with January savings. The bakeries will be very busy in the days before schools open and will step up on the baking schedules to help assist so that every child has a packed lunchbox for that special first day of school.

At Checkers you are never disappointed in price, selection or quality. You can find a Checkers in almost every mall. Checkers staff are so helpful and even their online customer service is great! My niece still needs to buy a pencil case, books and wrapping paper.
Checkers is my go-to for savings! I love that I can get everything under one roof from school diaries, to cheese and snacks for lunch, to dinner and let’s not forget that bottle of wine for mom and dad! Besides having an awesome range of products, they suit every budget too! Plus, Checkers are situated in convenient places and their operating hours go from bright and early to right past dinner time, being sure to help mom out whenever she forgot those last minute items (like the box of tissues) Lastly, all their staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful! #Back2School with CheckersSA has been a breeze this year, not only is Checkers the closest store to our house, which makes going to the shops quick and easy, they also have everything we need, from A to B. Their prices are always low and so more so when it comes to the back to school goodies. They have everything my son likes, from juices, fruit and mini cheddar cookies, to pritt, pencils, colourful pensil bags and more. I still need to buy pensils for him and they have an amazing value pack of 10 for a VERY low of just R24.99. We also need to invest in a new bag as his is now way too small this year, even only being in Grade 2 now, with all the new reading books and starting on English as well.
They really do live up to their name of being better and better. For mom’s and our boys.
