How to SAVE on Monthly Costs and 3 Things YOU CAN DO with your Kids with the Savings

Recently, I was looking at way to cut down on monthly expenses – I have blogged about this before and with expenses, we often have to revisit to make sure we are on the right track financially. So, I decided to take a look at the usual suspects – monthly household costs, car expenses and policies.

At around the same time I was approached by the insurance company King Price (perfect timing, right?!). We have all seen and heard the insurance ads out there, and all have mixed reactions, but since I was on a mission, I was open to finding out what was on offer from them.

What I did find out was that one of the biggest spends you can find yourself being faced with is ever-increasing car insurance. I must admit that to me this seemed like a no brainer! Surely if your car’s value decreases, your insurance premium should too? Apparently, this is not the case with a number of insurance companies. Check out how your car insurance works and if you are still paying hight premiums for a lower market value car, perhaps you are with the wrong insurance company and it’s time to re-look.

Enter King Price! What they told me was they guarantee decreased premiums every month – pretty cool! The reason they are able to do this is because the VALUE of your things (like your car) decrease i.e. depreciate, so why shouldn’t your insurance? The notion that as the value of your car drops, so the price to keep it safe increases is rather ludicrous if you think about it. So, what I would suggest is getting an insurance quote from King Price.  Decreased premiums mean instant monthly cost savings and the fact that it does it AUTOMATICALLY without me worrying to phone the insurance company up and discussing it with a person on the other side of the line makes it much more convenient for me at the same time.

So, just for fun, here are 3 ideas you could do with your kids (in the Cape) with the money you save on your car insurance premium which decrease each month with King Price:

The Stellenbosch Toy and Miniature Museum

Described as ‘a delightful miniature world of enchantment’, this place displays dolls, trains, houses and much more. If your children enjoy visiting a world of magic, this is the place to take them.

The museum is open 09:30 – 17:00 Monday to Saturday and 14:00 – 17:00 on Sundays.

The Ostrich Ranch

Most children love animals, but learning about the world’s largest bird is truly awesome! The Ostrich Ranch in Cape Town offers tours that include information on reasons for ostrich farming, interesting facts about the birds, and even a ride!

The Ostrich Ranch is open 365 days a year, from 09:00 – 17:00.

Putt Putt on the Beachfront

It’s always fun to watch your children do something that is challenging and teaches them new skills. One thing that certainly does that is Putt Putt. Getting a hole in one is no easy task, but having fun is simple! And with the ocean right behind you, the fresh sea breeze means a solid night’s sleep for your little ones!

Putt Putt is open Monday through Sunday from 09:00 – 21:00
