One of the awesome things about being a blogger is you often get to take on opportunities to review products that are new on the market. I consider myself privileged to have been given the opportunity by LG to review the LG NeoChef Microwave.
About LG NeoChef™ Microwave Oven
Design
First off, I have to comment on the look of the microwave. It has a design that is slick, modern and classy (and it has even won awards for its design!). I received the Black Matte version option, but it does come in a silver stainless steel colour
Functionality
The beauty of this microwave is the varying functions available which include:
- Grilling – I grilled a pre-made pizza and it came out cooked perfectly and crispy!
- Cooking with both heater and microwave (referred to in the manual as Grill Combination Cooking)
- Roasting e.g. chicken (I roasted one – see photo below!), jacket potatoes, beef, lamb and veges (roasting rack is included with the microwave)
- Soften and Melt e.g. melt chocolate / butter, soften ice cream, etc
- Defrost & Cook e.g. defrost and cook a croissant, chicken nuggets, frozen pizza / lasagne, etc
- Make Yogurt – this is achieved using the INVERTER cooking option and while I have not yet tried this recipe, it is stated that it can make healthy, lactobacilli-infused yogurt!
- Keep food warm – the Keep Warm function will keep hot & cooked food at serving temperature, so it’s ready to serve when you are ready to dish.
Recipes
The microwave arrives with a help manual, of course, but other than covering the “how to use” information, it includes some quick and easy recipes which I’m in the process of trying. Recipes include:
- Grape Leaf
- Kabsa
- Kafta
- Rice Pudding
- Potato Gratin
- Ratatouille
- Stuffed Tomatoes
- Stuffed Zucchini
- Bobotie
- Braai Lamb Chops
- Braai Steak
- Couscous
- Chicken Tikka
- Curry Chicken
- Dal Tadka
- Vegetable Biryani
Additional Features
- If you lose the manual, there’s a cook index available (printed on the microwave) to remind you on what settings to use for varying foods, so you have a reminder on hand at any time.
- If you have young kids who are still in the process of exploring where they are opening and closing and pressing buttons everywhere in sight, the microwave has a child lock feature, so your kids can’t turn the microwave on and have it start cooking the air inside anything. This feature, however, does not stop the door from opening.
- While food cooks, you are able to keep an eye on how the food is progressing with the energy efficient interior LED lamp that is three times brighter than conventional models, so no more burning / overcooking.
- The Anti-Bacterial EasyClean Coating makes it harder for dangerous contaminants to take root, eliminating 99.99 percent of harmful bacteria.
Additional Comments
I do love this microwave! I have done a lot of research on microwave cooking over the years and, honestly, this one checks more boxes than any I have personally seen so far.
The LG NeoChef™ Microwave Oven makes life a little easier and uses less electricity & dishes.
My favourite feature is you can make chips without oil – my youngest is 6 years old and chips are his favourite, so taking the oily cooking part out for me is great for obvious reasons.
It’s not that difficult to use. Given it has a fair amount number of features, it takes a bit of getting used to & playing around (THANK GOODNESS for the help manual!) but once you get the hang of it, you’re sorted and loving it.
