Next to Mom, Barbie is probably the most important figure in most little girls’ life, so why not invite her to the birthday party? A Barbie themed party is all about tapping into all things girly and fashionable – here are a couple of tips to get you started!

Ages

5 to 10

Colour Scheme

Various shades of pink with splashes of white, baby blue and pastels.

Food & Drink

A Barbie birthday cake is an absolute must and can be accompanied by pink and white Barbie cupcakes and cake pops. Opt for girly food like pink candyfloss, candy necklaces and bracelets, lollipop rings, strawberry milkshakes, marshmallows and fresh strawberries for a healthier extra. Little girls love DIY projects, so consider having a cupcake station with Barbie-inspired cake decorations like cake glitter, sprinkles, fondant flowers and so forth.

Fun & Games

Fashion is an indescribable part of Barbie’s life, so why not host a fashion show? Gather all kinds of glitzy goodies like beads, sequins, fabrics, plastic bags and paper and have the girls design their own outfits and accessories to parade down the catwalk. Alternatively, ask each girl to bring their favourite Barbie doll to the party and let them design an outfit for the long-legged beauty instead.

Décor & Goodies

Keep it frivolous, pink and girly! Think plump pink helium balloons, glitter and sequins, fairy lights, streamers and big plump cushions everywhere. Also keep a look out for Barbie branded gear and goodies, and decorate the walls with Barbie posters. If the girls themselves don’t come dressed up as Barbie princesses, be sure to supply them with plenty of dress up gear and photo booth props – for instance, blonde wigs, sunglasses, kiddie high heels and play makeup sets.
