Lisa Bulpin – Mommalicious Mammas

by Claire Minnaar

Tell us a bit about YOU and your family (where you are based, single / married, number of kids, etc)

I am a single mom to one gorgeous, naughty, super cute little boy called Raiden. My son is almost 2years and he is my everything. We live in wonderful Cape Town.

What is the name of your company and when did you start your business?

Mommalicious Mamma’s and I started in in August 2009.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Motherhood.

I fell pregnant unexpectedly and I needed support and wanted to talk to moms going through the same thing as me…so Mommalicious Mammas was born.

What are the challenges you face or have faced being a working Mom and how have you overcome them?

My biggest challenge is TIME TIME TIME…I never seem to have enough time to get everything done. It can be very hard being a work from home mom, juggling work and baby wanting your attention..

What is the hardest part or have been some of your struggles starting your own business?

Income. You have to be willing to struggle in the beginning for your business to be successful. I can’t wait for the day when MM is earning enough for me to employ someone else to help me! But as it is I hardly earn a living from it.

“Entrepreneurship is about living a few years of your life like most wont, so that you can live the rest of your life like most can’t”

Mommalicious also takes A LOT of time, you need to keep members active as well as add you content daily.

How do you balance your business and your family?

I have time for work and time for my son…for instance, morning and late at night when my son is asleep is for work. Afternoon is for my son..

I’m often up at 1am still working…BUT I do sneak in a nap when he’s sleeping from time to time if I worked extremely late the night before.

What or whom has been the greatest support for you and your business?

My family have been great support but my greatest support of all have been members of my site that have been there from the beginning and are still hugely active on the site and now in my personal life.

I have made wonderful friends that I truly care and cherish because of the website.

If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?

I wouldn’t change a thing, I’m very happy with all I’ve achieved so far and can’t wait to see where MM takes me.

What advice can you give other Moms out there who are starting a new business?

Don’t give up, keep at it. Don’t expect to hit the jack pot straight away. Give it time and put your heart in it and your business will flourish…

If other Moms would like to keep in touch, how can they contact you?

They can contact me on www.mommalicious.co.za. I’m always floating around there.
